Parent Teacher
Association of the college was constituted in the first general body
meeting of parents and teachers held on 12-11-2000. Since then, PTA
has very actively participated in the overall development of the college
by providing all timely assistance whenever necessary.
The major activities of PTA can be summarized as below in the chronological
order.
Activities
during 2001-2002
- The President and the executive
members of the PTA met the Vice chancellor of CUSAT to request for providing
improvement chance to students, as available in other universities of
Kerala. As a result, this option is now available to the students under
CUSAT also.
- When the students started indefinite
strike, PTA acted as the mediator for arranging the discussions with
college authorities / management. As a result, the strike was called
off.
- Donated Rs.35, 000/- to Bus fund
for maintaining the college bus service.
- Decided to present awards for
top scoring students and the same was distributed in PTA general body
meeting.
- Decided to sponsor copies/
Xerox copies of rare and essential books to college library and the
same has been done.
Activities during
2002-2003
- Donated Rs.50,000/- to Bus fund
for maintaining the college bus service.
- Sponsored the fax machine and
a water purifier for college use.
- Funded the installation and furnishing
cost of an additional computer lab.
- Funded the expense associated
with partitioning the drawing hall, for arranging the extra classrooms
required.
- Sponsored a prize money of Rs20000/-for
the “ILLUMINARE 2002”, the inter college technical fest
organized by our college.
- Met the expenses associated with
erecting the name boards of the college at four important locations.
- Sponsors PSC bulletin and “Mathrubhumi”
daily to the college library.
- Yearly awards for top scoring
students was presented in the inaugural ceremony of the technical fest
“ILLUMINARE 2002”
Activities
during 2003-2004
- Solved problems associated
with erection of 11 KV power line to the college, by negotiating with
the local people who obstructed tree felling. Funded Rs 10,000/- for
the expenses associated with this matter.
- Provided an interest
free loan of Rs One Lakh to the Hostel committee for starting Mens Hostel.
- Sponsored water
cooler for college use
- Provided the wireless
internet connection to the computer center.
- Organised felicitation
ceremony to congratulate the rank holders of the college and presented
them with the memento.
- Installed water
supply in the main block and new department block and met the all associated
cost.
Activities
during 2004-2005
- Photostat Centre:
P.T.A took initiative to start a Photostat centre to facilitate the
photocopying for the students and staff.
- The students
Union was provided with an amount of Rs.5000/-to meet the liabilities
incurred during the conduct of the fine arts festival.
- A wall was built
to protect the critical part of the road to the college from being washed
away. An expenditure of Rs 10,500/-was incurred in the process.
- The ventilators
and glasses were covered with sun film to prevent glare in the classrooms.
- PTA took initiatives
to start STD/ISD booth at the college campus.
- Sponsored a prize
money of Rs 25000/-for the “ILLUMINARE 2005”, the inter college
technical cum cultural fest fest organized by our college.
- Sponsored water
purifier for EC/EI block.
PTA-Activities during
2005-2006
- ISTE Institution Membership:
Sponsored Rs 25,000/- for getting ISTE Institution Membership.
- Extension of College Canteen:
Funded and constructed well spacious college canteen
- Coin Box facility: PTA took
initiatives to install coin box telephone at the college campus.
- Water Purifier: Sponsored
water purifier to EC/EI block.
- Funded and provided college
identity card (Smart Card) to students
- Sponsored gold medal to top
scorers in University examination in each branch
PTA-Activities during 2006-2007
- Printed and distributed smart
identity cards to all the first year students
- Sponsored gold medal to top
scorers in University examination in each branch
- Water cooler: Decided to
Sponsor water cooler to each department block
- Printed University model
answer books for the conduct of sessional examinations
- PTA completed the finishing
work of college canteen
- Separate class PTA meetings
were organised for facilitating the parent –teacher interaction
